DIN Cap and Plug Kit Sizes for Light and Heavy Series

DIN caps and plugs help protect open hydraulic fitting ends, tube connections, and adapter ports while parts are stored, moved, or serviced. A useful kit is organized around the DIN light series and heavy series sizes a technician is likely to meet in the field.
The practical difference between a standard kit and an expanded kit is size coverage. Standard sets cover the common DIN light or heavy sizes. Expanded sets add the larger sizes that are less common but important when the equipment uses bigger metric tube connections.
Light Series Standard Sizes
A light series standard kit commonly covers the smaller and midrange L sizes. Typical sizes include 06L M12 x 1.5, 08L M14 x 1.5, 10L M16 x 1.5, 12L M18 x 1.5, 15L M22 x 1.5, 18L M26 x 1.5, 22L M30 x 2, and 28L M36 x 2.
These sizes are used where DIN light series tubing and fittings are present. The cap or plug should match both the series and the thread, not only the approximate outside diameter.
Light Series Expanded Sizes
An expanded light series kit adds larger L sizes to the standard group. Common additions include 35L M45 x 2 and 42L M52 x 2.
Those larger sizes are useful when a maintenance team services equipment with a wider metric range and does not want to leave an open fitting unprotected while waiting for a separate cap or plug.
Heavy Series Standard Sizes
A heavy series standard kit covers common S sizes. Typical sizes include 06S M14 x 1.5, 08S M16 x 1.5, 10S M18 x 1.5, 12S M20 x 1.5, 14S M22 x 1.5, 16S M24 x 1.5, 20S M30 x 2, and 25S M36 x 2.
The heavy series uses different sizing from the light series. A cap or plug chosen only by thread may still be wrong if the series and tube connection style are not checked.
Heavy Series Expanded Sizes
An expanded heavy series kit adds larger sizes such as 30S M42 x 2 and 38S M52 x 2. These help cover heavier-duty metric equipment where larger DIN tube fittings are installed.
When choosing DIN caps and plugs, keep light and heavy series parts separated, confirm the metric thread, and store the kit in a case that keeps sizes visible and protected from damage or contamination.
