Food and beverage production uses hydraulic and pneumatic components behind many filling, packaging, sealing, mixing, and conveying steps. The fittings and tubing are not only connection hardware; they help keep fluid power and air circuits reliable in equipment that is cleaned, adjusted, and serviced often.

For these systems, material compatibility, clean routing, leak control, and easy maintenance matter as much as thread size or tube outside diameter.

Filling Machines and Frequent Changeovers

Bottle and can filling machines need controlled motion around valves, cappers, guides, and handling equipment. Pneumatic cylinders and actuators often control repeated movement, while tubing and fittings keep the air circuit compact and serviceable.

Push-to-connect fittings are common in these areas because tubing can be installed and replaced quickly during maintenance. Where tubing or hose may contact washdown areas or food-handling equipment, confirm the material, temperature rating, and any food-contact requirements before replacement.

Packaging, Wrapping, Sealing, and Labeling Lines

Packaging equipment may use pneumatic tubing, stainless tubing, valves, and fittings for wrapping, sealing, labeling, and product handling. These lines often run for long shifts, so air leaks, damaged tubing, or loose fittings can create downtime and inconsistent package quality.

Stainless steel and compatible polymer tubing are often selected where cleaning chemicals, moisture, or hygiene requirements are present. The connection should be easy to inspect and should not create a trap where residue collects.

Mixing and Blending Equipment

Mixers and blenders can expose nearby hose and fitting connections to vibration, pressure changes, and cleaning cycles. Where liquid ingredients, process water, or transfer lines are involved, the hose, fitting, and seal material must match the media and cleaning method.

Leak-resistant connection styles such as ORFS may be useful in hydraulic circuits where contamination control and repeatable sealing are important. In clean processing areas, smooth surfaces and corrosion-resistant materials such as 304 or 316 stainless steel are often preferred.

What to Check Before Replacing Components

Before replacing a fitting, tube, or hose in food and beverage equipment, confirm the fluid or air media, cleaning exposure, connection style, pressure, temperature, and material requirement. A part that threads in may still be wrong if the seal, surface finish, or material does not suit the process.
