Medical and life science equipment depends on small, clean, leak-tight connections for gases, fluids, steam, and process utilities. Instrumentation fittings, valves, regulators, hoses, and tubing help control flow where purity, measurement accuracy, and repeatability are critical.
The correct connection choice depends on media, cleanliness, pressure, temperature, and whether the system is used for delivery, analysis, sterilization, or manufacturing.
Medical Gas Delivery Systems
Oxygen, nitrogen, compressed air, vacuum, and other medical gas systems require connections that resist leakage and maintain steady flow. Tube fittings, valves, and regulators may be used to route and control gases through panels, manifolds, and equipment.
Double ferrule tube fittings are common in instrumentation service because the front ferrule seals while the back ferrule grips the tube. Proper tube preparation and correct assembly are essential for repeatable sealing.
Biopharmaceutical and Pharmaceutical Processing
Pharmaceutical manufacturing uses clean process fluids, purified water, process gases, and cleaning or sterilization cycles. Fittings and valves may need smooth stainless surfaces, passivated or electropolished finishes, and materials suitable for the process environment.
In clean systems, rough internal surfaces and trapped areas can collect particles or residue. Connection design, surface finish, and gasket condition all affect cleanability.
Laboratory and Analytical Instruments
Laboratory instruments such as gas chromatographs, mass spectrometers, and research equipment may use carrier gases, reactive media, and small-bore tubing. Fittings and regulators must support accurate flow control and stable measurement.
A small leak, damaged ferrule, or wrong material can affect results and shorten equipment life. Replacement parts should match tube size, pressure rating, media, and instrument requirements.
Microfluidics and Sterilization Service
Diagnostics, microfluidics, and lab-on-chip systems often need precise low-volume fluid control. Autoclaves and sterilization equipment, by contrast, may use high-pressure steam or gas service that requires suitable valves and pressure-rated connections.
For these applications, do not select by thread alone. Confirm material grade, finish, cleanliness requirement, pressure, temperature, and the exact sealing style before installing a replacement.
